What a fantastic article. I teared up at the Mrs Dixon bit.

LemonEmmaP · 15/11/2011 09:38

Wow, just wow. A very well written, and emotive article.

I have always liked Patrick Stewart and when I clicked on this thread was hoping not to be disallusioned. Relieved that I can still consider him a great actor and a good man.

sospanfach · 15/11/2011 09:45

I was chuffed when I saw he was working with Refuge, and this article is extremely good. Thanks for sharing.

Brilliant article, thanks for the link.

ChickensHaveNoEyebrows · 15/11/2011 09:56

Great article.

TheGoldRoad · 15/11/2011 09:56

He is the chancellor of my university. He also funds a scholarship in partnership with Refuge for the study of domestic violence.

I have just read that article! Even though it dates back to 2009..... very powerful stuff. Hooray for PS.

Bossybritches22 · 15/11/2011 10:02

Bloody brilliant, & how wonderful that he can turn his awful experiences to something positive & be a meaningful patron of such a great charity.

Hope this article is read worldwide, I'm going to send it to many people I know will be interested.

Thanks truly

KalSkirata · 15/11/2011 10:06

what a great man. I wish we'd had a Mrs Dixon to save me and my siblings.

rollonchristmas · 15/11/2011 10:20

It is a deeply emotional and fiercely logical piece of writing, and one that I often share with others as a way of making them 'see' what it is I mean when I talk about DV.

PosiesOfPoinsettia · 15/11/2011 11:48

You should put that in chat or something, why is the refuge campaign here too? Feminists aren't the only people that give a shit about DV.

ChristinedePizanne · 15/11/2011 11:54

Same as goosey :)

Posies - I don't know why the Refuge campaign is in here either - take it up with MN

sospanfach · 15/11/2011 12:00

they've been asked to move it to Active Convos once...perhaps we can keep asking?

Bossybritches22 · 15/11/2011 14:05

Or move it ourselves & just start a new thread!

DontCallMeFrothyDragon · 15/11/2011 17:29

Always had a lot of admiration for Patrick Stewart. I saw for Amnesty, a couple of years ago. Heard his story in Became an even bigger fan of him there and then.

PamBeesly · 15/11/2011 22:12

Very moving and honest, sometimes its difficult to open up about abuse in your childhood but bravo to PS for doing so to highlight such a worthy cause
