Seen it mentioned on another thread, and didn't know what it means. Can somebody enlighten me please?

Thanks PrinceHumperdink - I didn't think it meant Freudian analysis, I'd thought it was more likely to be the equivalent of a socialist analysis.

But is that all there is to it? Or are there some guidelines?!

I would call it feminist analysis when something (anything - could be a word, film, song, tradition, fact) is looked at through the perspective of knowing that we are living in a world where men control just about all of the power structures. So you might look at e.g. a wedding and think "ah isn't that nice" and then you might put on your feminist monocle and look again, and see a ceremony that is rooted historically in the transfer of woman as goods from one man to another. It doesn't mean you have to suddenly hate weddings or get divorced, or picket churches or whatever, it just means you've thought about it, rather just accepting it at face value.

I'd say it was more a case of get pondering, IsIt. You could start with the things that make you feel vaguely annoyed or uncomfortable and you don't know why. For instance, I used to get annoyed with the way that there are always loads of men on panel games/as experts on the news etc, and hardly any women. And then you kind of...write off the supposedly "reasonable" explanations (women are genetically less likely to be funny/know stuff, er...) and you're left with the fact that these things are happening for no good reason at all.
