this Guardian article

Successful in his career, therefore his choice to (allegedly) attack a woman is framed in as glamorous a way as possible.

'Rumours of dangerous liaisons and sexual conquests have had little effect on Strauss-Kahn's chances of occupying the highest office in France, but last night's arrest may alter his future ambitions.'

WTF is a 'dangerous liaison' ?

How is that framed glamorously? It just gives some background about the ways in which he has attracted scandal to himself in the past, which is currently a big feaure in French discussion of his suitability to run for office. It doesn't do anything to frame the alleged attack in anything other than the extremely serious way in which it should be taken.

The article intentionally paints a picture of him as having an extravagant lifestyle, insinuating that enjoyment of life is his priority, expensive paintings etc. It's the linking of the enjoyment of the high life to this story which I find offensive in the least.

The article is more critical of his spending habits than of his alleged crime!
