  1. He wore a dress
  1. Aunt Flo was a subversive embrace of the menstrual cycle.
  1. Err...

I thought at first you meant Pob, that yellow and green thing that spat all the time -on TV in the 80s - feminist no, misogynist yes.

tethersend · 08/05/2011 20:20

That died on it's arse.

It's almost as if I don't understand popular culture. Or feminism. Or Mumsnet.

we need to get some dvds.

tethersend · 08/05/2011 20:42

Oh god, I was afraid of that.

Sorry tethers, you know how I slavishly support you in all sorts of insanity but Bod was 1975. We didn't have a TV from 75-78 and 1978 was the year I discovered sex and stopped watching TV for another three years.
So I had no idea who he was until I googled.
DVDs?

tethersend, that OP has made my day!

Meglet · 08/05/2011 22:26

Was the frog the conductor? And there was an animal orchestra?

LynetteScavo · 08/05/2011 22:26

Didn't Bod always go for a strawberry or raspberry milkshake? Pink milkshake? For a boy in the 70's? Pretty radical.

I asked DH only this afternoon if Bod was indeed a boy. Confused

LynetteScavo · 08/05/2011 22:30

You could ask bod personally; www.herecomesbod.com/hcb_contact.html

True feminist statements in Mary Mungo and Midge. Who was the leader of the gang? Mary of course, and Mungo and Midge were a tiny bit thick
See also Crystal Tipps and Alistair.

Sad to say, although I ADORE the Clangers...female roles very much subjugated and mostly dealing with creating soup.

tethersend · 08/05/2011 22:47

dittany, can I quote you on that? Grin

We were easily pleased, but I was between 2 and 5 when it was on, loved it, not many people I know have seen it. I will burst your feminist bubble with .

Bod and the apple is clearly a feminist subversion of the genesis story. The apple itself replaces the lascivious Eve as the evil protagonist in its action of disappearing into the sky and inexplicably waiting there for hours on end before bumping Bod on the head and making everyone feel silly.

And how does the bit where Aunt Flo thinks she could be more usefully baking a cake fit into this feminist theory of Bod?

ChateauRouge · 09/05/2011 00:33

Bod and the Apple is a seriously odd episode.
I am slightly disturbed by that one.
