Just saw it...it's now 12.30am so doubt anyone's about now....but will bump tomorrow.

Basically it has a man and a woman in bed, she's reading and he is kissing her arm....in a suggestive manner.

She then says "Oh not tonight I've got a..." and he iterrupts with a pushy little wave of his box of headache tablets!

At which she looks resigned.

Shock

Who do I complain to? What utter claptrap!

I won't have my DDs seeing this kind of shit...and thinking it's acceptable to bully or pressure women into sex.

Can anyone advise/join me in complaining?

when and where did i say your opinion was less valid than any others on this thread? Confused

TidyDancer · 21/03/2011 21:23

That's the point though Booy, I don't think it's saying that at all. It's all about perception isn't it? I don't percieve it the way you do. But that doesn't mean I value my body any less....

TidyDancer · 21/03/2011 21:23

You didn't say that. I didn't say you did either.

BooyHoo · 21/03/2011 21:24

what do you think this ad is saying?

TidyDancer · 21/03/2011 21:24

Sorry, just realised my comment was on the bottom of a message to you. Wasn't directed at you though.

BooyHoo · 21/03/2011 21:24

"Having a different opinion about something doesn't make my opinion any less valid."

you said this in a post directed at me.

TidyDancer · 21/03/2011 21:24

As I said, I think it's just one giant pisstake of men. Which I actually find as offensive as you seem to find it against woman. Ironic huh?

BooyHoo · 21/03/2011 21:24

xpost. sorry.

TidyDancer · 21/03/2011 21:25

See above.

TidyDancer · 21/03/2011 21:25

:)

TidyDancer · 21/03/2011 21:25

Should point out here, that I'm fairly certain I'm not a man. :)

BooyHoo · 21/03/2011 21:26

i think men should be offended at this ad too. it is pretty much implying that they should be offering up the painkillers in order to get sex when their partners dont want it.

Invisiblesoul · 21/03/2011 21:26

Chipping I'm with you, it's a joke. And honestly this is madness and makes feminism a laughing stock

TidyDancer · 21/03/2011 21:27

Exactly Booy. If it's saying anything offensive at all, that's what I think it's saying. But (IMO) I don't find it offensive enough on any score to consider making a complaint about it.

BooyHoo · 21/03/2011 21:27

thanks for coming out of your way and onto a feminist board to post that supportive message invisiblesoul

Invisiblesoul · 21/03/2011 21:30

I come here for a laugh. I think your funny. It's a quiet night in my household.

if only you lived up to your name and remained invisible while you were enjoying our posts. go away. and grow up while you're there.

Skinit · 21/03/2011 21:37

Tidy

The advert makes an outmoded way of thinking into a domestic joke...lightening what is really behind it, which is the habit of making a woman's right to her own body into a joke, a nothing....the ad empowers only men.

In the 60s and 70s it was ok to laugh at racist jokes on TV...and in those days people excused the "humour" with trite comments like "Oh but I LIKE black people! It's only a giggle"

Just like you are excusing this.

"go away and grow up"

Very adult.

That's my favourite thing about these threads. Your opinion is right and not up for debate at all. That's why feminism gets a bad name. Very extremist. Now, you'll be pleased to know law and order is on and it's more interesting. Back to your bashing ladies. Night

Skinit · 21/03/2011 21:39

BooyHoo I pointed that out to the Boots rep today...I said that I resented their mmaking an idiot out of the man in the ad too.

As if all men are so desperate.

BooyHoo · 21/03/2011 21:39

totally agree skinit.

BooyHoo · 21/03/2011 21:41

well invisible if you are immature enough to find tehse posts amusing tehn you do actually need to grow up and i have no issue with telling you to do so when you make you ridicule of us public. by telling us you find us funny, you invited me to comment, i commented. i will do so again. go away.

Skinit · 21/03/2011 21:41

No Invisible...feminism gets a bad name because some people are afraid of change.

So Tidydancer what you're sying is that because men aren't offended by it women have no right to object either?

But then maybe its not up to you to tell women what they should be offended by?
