And why?

I would assume it's not the daily mail! Grin

But I've seen criticism for The Guardian on this topic as well...

I do like to read a RL paper, though, sometimes (and need to buy one to put in the chicken coop too...although the DM is good enough for chicken shit, I'd rather not put more money in their pockets!)

I keep up-to-date with the broadsheet websites, apart from The Times, as that isn't free any longer (and I'm certainly not putting any money in Rupert Murdoch's pocket).

I also keep tabs on the Daily Hate Mail to see what vitriol they're spouting about women/homosexuals/Islam that day.

Print wise we subscribe to The Week.

JessinAvalon · 18/02/2011 22:44

I usually buy The Observer on a Sunday and sometimes the Independent.

The Times has really gone downhill and The Sunday Times manages to feature a semi-naked woman on the front cover each week no matter what the subject - Artic holidays will still feature a photo of a woman in a bikini.

The Guardian comment is free page online has had some of the most vile and misogynistic comments I've ever seen so I try to avoid reading any of the comments underneath any kind of feminist article now.

I hate the Daily Mail. With a passion. I am on the mailing list for an NHS managers blog and the guy who writes it links to stories about health on the right hand side. I'll think, oh - that looks interesting, and I'll click on it and then it will open up the Daily Mail with those hideous stories down on the right hand side saying 'she's too fat, she's too thin, look at her cellulite, look at her bad dress sense'....and I have to shut the page down in horror!

The Times

Cannot bear a tabloid. I know they're all tabloids nowadays but you know the group of newspapers to which I am referring. The Grauniad is just a long whine, full of public sector workers wanting to be paid more for doing not very much In theory I should like the Independent, but it seems to lack character and voice. The Telegraph isn't thinking enough.

So it's me for the Times. In any event it has the best legal section and the crossword is unbeatable.

twirlymum · 18/02/2011 22:57

The Times.

My guilty pleasure is The Express though.
Strangly enough, I am not obsessed with Princess Diana or Madeleine McCann, but I do like the crossword Grin

JessinAvalon · 18/02/2011 22:57

I do like the jumbo crossword in the Saturday Times.

But I cannot stand their treatment of women (here's a discussion on page 3 of the leaders' wives' outfits during the election - so important!) so I avoid it these days.

The Independent.

queenofthecapitalwasteland · 18/02/2011 23:11

I used to read the independant but jumped ship to the I as it's cheaper and rolls up nicely into my rucksack. It's also had some really good pieces with a feminist slant recently (examples escape me at the moment, apologies)

SueWhite · 18/02/2011 23:13

They all piss me off.

I like The Economist.

Lincolnshire Echo... catches well when I'm lighting the stove.

HHLimbo · 19/02/2011 00:18

I agree the Times has gone down the pan, I had to keep checking it wasnt a tabloid last time I read it. It used to be quite good 10 years ago. I sometimes miss its frivolities, but not the anger/vom.

BBC and Guardian for me. Smile

HHLimbo · 19/02/2011 00:18

I love the BeeB more and more each day.

HerBeX · 19/02/2011 08:04

I don't read newspapers.

I only ever link to them from Mumsnet or if someone on Facebook links or something.

Time is limited and I'd rather waste it on Mumsnet than waste it on any of the newspapers.

Guardian, Indie or FT (depends which dp brings through the door). If I'm at my folks its The Telegraph and The Times.....
I was brought up on the Daily Mirror (when it was a proper paper!), but always dispaired at my grandmother reading the Express (almost as bad as the DM)

lospolloshermanos · 19/02/2011 12:05

I do sometimes read the daily fail, purely for the lolz

dahu · 19/02/2011 12:18

The Daily Mash

AliceWorld · 19/02/2011 13:19

I also like i. It did have some feminist stuff in not so long ago, I remember wanting to email a thank you as it was at a time when I felt bombarded with stuff and it was such a light. Was it maybe about Assange? It was a comment piece on one of the big stories. It debunked a whole load of crap that was being said.

ilythia · 19/02/2011 14:19

I used to read grauniad but don't have time so started buying i and it's great,
I think the lack of waffle space means the generic woman hating crap articles are not ther (ie no slebs, no bunting cupcakes etc)

Unrulysun · 19/02/2011 15:20

Th Guardian. But I do think it fails us much of the time :(

I think I have most in common with the rest of its readership.

thefinerthingsinlife · 19/02/2011 16:09

The Independant or I depending on how much time I have to read the paper
