Would we like a fiction Book Club?

So that we could do some feminist analysis of fiction I mean? I was thinking maybe some classics but possibly we all know that Rochester has to be emasculated before Jane blah blah and we'd prefer to do others?

Would anyone be up for it? Would it work? What would we read? Other questions I haven't thought of?

The next book is The Bloody Chamber.

I have killed the other thread by being rude about both Charlotte Bronte and Lucy Snowe.

If she ends up with Mr Locks-You-In-The-Attic I'm going to be very cross with her.

I've missed out this time but will attempt to read The Bloody Chamber. Do we have a month to read it?

I am finding recently that my inner feminism is wanting to come out. It was out in my 20s and then forgotten about. Over the last couple of months though things are starting to really piss me off and now that I have two daughters I don't want them (or me) to feel that they have to put up with crap.

Oh god, that felt good.

Unrulysun · 09/03/2011 21:02

Maresedotes I think a lot of us mothers of daughters feel the same way :)

Have you been onto the chat thread?

Hi SaF it was on this thread albeit a long while back. It's by Angela Carter. It's a book of short stories loosely inspired by fairy tales and The Bloody Chamber is the first story and is basically Bluebeard.
