...is displayed at eye level Angry

Walked to the garage today, to get some milk and briefly stopped at the newspaper stand so I could have a quick look.

DS zones in to the farking Sport. Naked woman apart from a g string.

DS: 'Why has that lady got her bottom out? And why does she have an elastic band up her bum?' (twas a thin g string)

Women's breasts/bums are news, didn't you know?

Valpollicella · 28/12/2010 20:13

I know, old argument. It just pissed me right off that DS saw it - not that he's the only 4 yo to see naked women on thre front of a paper...but still Confused

it's just mad isn't it, bet it's only the uk where this is acceptable

LostArt · 28/12/2010 20:28

My DC are too young to see these images as anything other than naked bodies, although they do notice that it is inappropriate. I'm not looking forward to the day when they 'get' what it's really about ...

southeastastra · 28/12/2010 20:29

i wonder who buys the sport

Valpollicella · 28/12/2010 21:10

Lostart...Just wait Sad I I have no issue wityh nakedness.

I don;t care if he sees naked people. As long as they aren't Sport style sexy naked....

I just don't want him asking me why the lady has her bum out, and she has a rubber band up her bum instead of knickers...wtf am I supposed to say?

[grr]

I wonder if an effective method would be to start taking the children to the person running the shop and ask them to explain.

Not a serious suggestion, I dread to think of some of the responses they might get...

But really, the shops put us in this position, they should have to get us out of it. Imagine marching up to the person and saying "my DD has asked why those ladies have no clothes on and are bent over like that - please can you explain to her".

MrsClown · 30/12/2010 12:20

ISNT. I think that is a brillian suggestion. It would put the shop keeper on the spot and not you. A good think though would be to ask for the manager first. My children are a bit older but if I ever take a young child into a shop like that I will certainly get the manager to explain!

HerBeatitude · 30/12/2010 23:28

My bloody local co-op has stopped displaying it at toddler eye level and is now displaying it at adult eye level.

I thoguht thye were supposed to have stopped doing that?

Valpollicella · 30/12/2010 23:42

Isnt...that's a good idea Grin

May try that out tomorrow with him.

HerBea, I know, this is a stand right outside he garage with all the papers in it. Telegraph, Indi etc all at the top. Sun, Sport and many bent over ladies right at DS's eye level..Nice Hmm.

HB did you get your post the wrong way around? I think the co-op did say they would move them up, so you could talk to the manager/call them/email them or something.
