I loved it, I took my 4 year old dd and my 19 year old cousin who both loved it too.

The atmosphere was amazing, the speaker were really moving all in all fantastic.

The only thing that made me cross was the amount of men that heckled "they only want a shag" etc etc.

I can't wait for Million Women Rise in March

Million Women Rise sounds intersting!

Glad you had a good evening Grin And sod the heckling twats.

JessinAvalon · 25/11/2010 22:46

Brilliant stuff! Were you in Portsmouth by any chance? A friend has just posted some photos of tonight's RTN march there.

That's great thefinerthings - so glad you had a good time. I think maybe the way to deal with hecklers (musing here as I'm going to RTN on Saturday and I want to prepare) is to surround them in a big circle of women and start to close in on them muttering scarily. Some people just don't have enough of a healthy fear of large groups of strong angry women, I find. :)

thefinerthingsinlife · 26/11/2010 07:22

Yes it was Jess.

Haha fantastic Elephants.

My dd has woken up this morning chanting about "safe streets" and wanting it "nooooooow" it's made my morning (even if it was ver y early and she was very loud Grin )

really? that's brilliant

thefinerthingsinlife · 26/11/2010 15:32

I think she just likes shouting lol.

I'm taking her to MWR in March too, working on the theory that feminist activism being a big part of her childhood will be a good start for her

Sounds fantastic, and I love that you took your cousin.
Getting young women involved early on is crucial to changing the culture.

Hi,going to the RTN in Leeds next week, cant wait. Anyone else going. I am marching with OBJECT (see website). My husband the clown is hoping to do some entertaining for the kids etc. CANT WAIT.

As for the hecklers, they must have felt really intimidated. My God, they can dish it out but they cant take it!

I went to the RTN in London on Saturday and took a few photos twitpic.com/3b1pkt

The sight of so many women marching through central London always chokes me up a bit, but in a good way. Hope you have fun at the weekend :)

earwicga · 29/11/2010 14:01

I'm going to the RTN in Bangor on the 14th Dec. Hope it is as loud as the one you went to finer things.

MrsClown · 29/11/2010 15:01

LondonSun, thanks for the pics they look great. I was just wondering, I know this sounds daft but was it done on purpose the fact that all the police officers in front were women. It it was arranged that is fantastic. I know what you mean about getting choked up, I felt the same at MWR Manchester. It really made me feel good the fact that women of all ages were together in sisterhood. There was a banner saying 'SISTERS ARE DOING IT FOR EACH OTHER'. How apt I thought.

thefinerthingsinlife · 29/11/2010 16:13

Love the Pics.

We were all given t-shirts to wear over our coats that said:

"I pledge not to commit, condone or remain silent about violence against women"

It looked fab
