Ah, I love a thread called 'Epic Fail' in feminism, I thought we were going to be talking about the Odyssey as a metaphor for male impotence or the Iliad as a parable of male incompetence. Or at least some kind of crack about 300 Spartans/Braveheart.

But, no, you bring me men who can't do links and talk about 'mums'.

Eleison · 19/10/2010 12:28

LRP: Grin

EvilAntsAndMiasmas · 19/10/2010 12:33

Can we talk about Gilgamesh (sp?) a bit? I have no idea about it - any good female characters?

Oh, I see. Because the female brain is attached to the womb and with the first placenta ... whoosh!

sethstarkaddersmummyreturns · 19/10/2010 13:23

Ooh, is it time for SCUM to get active again? Are we raiding Hooters? What disguise will it be this time?

vastingavay · 19/10/2010 13:24

Everyone dress up as Andy Warhol. For he symbolises patriarchy and they'd have to let us in.

AliceWorld · 19/10/2010 13:25

Shhh I thought we were keeping that quiet.

and why don't I get to be on the epic fail list too :(

Actually, Elephants, Gilgamesh might muddy the waters a bit - the main female character is a prostitute/priestess who tames the wild man Enkidu (Gilgamesh's homoromantic best mate) by shagging him senseless.

Not sure what that does to the Hooters debate ... and somehow I doubt it was part of Mike's deep and subtle point.

EvilAntsAndMiasmas · 19/10/2010 13:48

Ah cheer up Alice, you may not be as epic as the rest of us but you're still a failure. [hgrin]

EvilAntsAndMiasmas · 19/10/2010 13:49

Ah - ok LRD, scrap that then. I would do anything for the cause of women's liberation, but I won't do that.

LittleRedPumpkin · 19/10/2010 13:52

Damn you, now I have that song in my head! Grin

Alice, I too am non-epic and non-feminist. But then, I'm more of a lurker here.

Mike seems to have gone, doesn't he? D'you think we weren't as welcoming and mumsy as we should have been?

EvilAntsAndMiasmas · 19/10/2010 14:10

Our motherly and "motherly" bosoms are just not welcoming enough to wee Mikey, not being clad in the regulation white vests.

I call it a damn shame.

TrillianSlasher · 19/10/2010 14:12

Haha, you moron.

If it's not rocket science then why can't you do it yourself?

What do you mean by 'mums'? Are you suggesting that MNers are not really mums, that it is all a great conspiracy?

LittleRedPumpkin · 19/10/2010 14:14
Sad
EvilAntsAndMiasmas · 19/10/2010 14:20

at least my hat is nice and pert and upright.

[hsmile]

oh

[hsad]

TrillianSlasher · 19/10/2010 14:26

LRP - mine are not exactly 'motherly' either [hsmile]

LittleRedPumpkin · 19/10/2010 14:27

Ha! I love the aptly droopy hat emoticon.

Freud, freud, what have you done?

EvilAntsAndMiasmas · 19/10/2010 14:30

LRD - can we invoke Athena to do something nasty to Hooters for owl abuse?

LittleRedPumpkin · 19/10/2010 14:36
Grin

I think we really should. Is invoking Athena one of the higher-level Feminist Cabal secrets?

EvilAntsAndMiasmas · 19/10/2010 14:37

Shhhht!

LittleRedPumpkin · 19/10/2010 14:42

Oops. Blush
