PCOS Symptoms and Treatments

Hi everyone,

I am looking to hear about any treatments / solutions for any PCOS symptoms people have had.

My PCOS is completely hormone driven and I have minimal cysts on ovaries.
I already take metformin daily, and have tried myo inositol and didn’t see much improvement from that.

I have zero menstrual cycle, nothing. Previously no period for 12m and again nothing for 5 months since having my baby.

this is not about fertility, i am purely looking to regulate some kind of cycle for general health reasons.

I also experience excessive facial hair, scalp hair loss, broken sleep, weight gain, even with strict diet or exercise weight loss is minimal.

I have today had tests / scans for the first time again since having my baby and will have a follow up with a private gynae to discuss options next week.

I was just wondering what anyone else has tried that worked / didn’t work, or what their gynae suggested?

thanks in advance!!

It’s quite a variable syndrome, so one size doesn’t fit all. My symptoms were mainly acne, very irregular periods and consequent subfertility. The latter fortunately was solved by clomid, but in general my symptoms were kept more or less in check by an appropriate oral contraceptive eg Marvelon. A hormonal problem may well have a hormonal solution!

I’m using the past tense because now at 65 well past the menopause I’m not really aware of symptoms attributable to PCOS.

Hi, thanks for your reply!

ive had a lengthy fertility journey and after lots of treatment have been able to have a baby. So now I’m really just looking to improve general symptoms, but really want to stay away from a contraceptive pill to protect future fertility.
