i’m wondering if anybody can help me here!
im 33, was diagnosed with a UTI a 2 weeks ago! 3 days of nitro, urine test clear but still having bladder pain so 7 days of cefalexin given.
still having bladder pain, also sometimes a sharp pain in my bladder which then i need to go go the toilet also makes me need a bowel movement.
it’s really getting me down and causing me all sorts of anxiety 😥

could i have developed cysistis?
what could i do to help?

im having no burning when i wee
i think my bladder just feels extremely full and a little twingy when i need to go.

I've had a number of UTIs over the years and it often takes a while to be properly well again after a bout. But if it persists go back, because on one occasion I needed a second round of antibiotics, the first lot did not clear it.

A UTI is cystitis, I often have to take cranberry extra tablets after a UTI to help settle my blader back to normal.

Also I've realised that being even slightly constipated can also seriously effect my blader.

i didn’t realise it took weeks to get back to normal 😥
i wouldn’t say im constipated but when i need to go i can get a sharp pain through to my bladder.
i have ordered some cystitis sachets im hoping they work.
its just the niggly pains left really.
i did have my urine dipped again and it was negative for leukocytes and nitrites but positive for blood. We didn’t really think much of that as i had just finished a period x

Do you mean interstitial cystitis? Because this is different to normal cystitis- which is a UTI. It’s unlikely to be IC (which I’ve had since I was 14, now 45) after just one episode of a uti. It’s more likely the uti either hasn’t completely cleared or you are still left with some residual pain. It may be that you need a different antibiotic even if your urine isn’t showing much - the nhs tests can be wildly unreliable, I’m in a group for IC sufferers and we always recommend the FOCUS urine test (Google this) as it’s more sensitive and you can use to it request different antibiotics from your doctor. If it’s persisting despite several different course of antibiotics then you can ask to be referred to urology and they’ll do a cystoscopy to check for inflammation (which won’t show on an ultrasound) which would confirm IC - this is how my own diagnosis was confirmed. I was on daily long term antibiotics for 30 years but this is unusual now - I was able to stop them a few years ago after moving to amitriptyline and vaginal oestrogen cream (vaginal oestrogen is very useful in preventing UTIs and IC as we have oestrogen receptors in our bladder and it can help soothe these and plump them out - regardless of whether you are menopausal or not).
