Endometriosis- should I just wait?

Always suffered with menstruation, abdominal pain, back pain, thigh pain, fatigue, breathlessness and just generally feeling unwell around time of period alongside multiple early MC. The only symptom I don't have is significantly heavy periods, although I wouldn't say they where light.

In the past I've always had a fluid filled cyst on my ovary, no one can say if its the same one or recurring, I've recently had a TV scan due to increased pain and again cyst has been noticed on same ovary measuring 4.5cm. NHS has been great and I've been told they will rescan me in 3 months to see what is happening with the cyst and go from there.

Ive asked about the possibility of endo and was told they wouldn't really investigate until I had tried the coil but I've had enough now, 20 years of being non functional every time I get a period. I've tried the pill, implant, injection, patches and nothing works.

I do have private health cover and not sure if to just follow the NHS advice and just wait for a rescan in 3 months or just request a referral to go private for a laparoscopy, i would feel like such a fraud however if I do request one only for them to find nothing.

Being fobbed off with the coil to treat potential endo is disgusting and lazy. I would want to know if it is actually endo and then you can decide where to go from there.

Two options, go to a specialist clinic for women's health and get a 2D and 3D ultrasound. This is the first clinic I found but I am linking it so you can see what you are looking for. I did see a woman on TikTok talk about her endo diagnosis via this method and the good thing is unlike a laparoscopy it is non surgical.

Alternatively, MRI, again done at a women's health clinic with someone who can accurately read the results.

Laparoscopy or any surgery has a risk of adhesions which you don't want if you can help it. I had a laparoscopy to confirm endo but that was well over 20 years ago and technology has moved on.

There are clinics in places like Poland and Bulgaria that also offer these services with a translator or the staff speak really good English too. This specific was one recommended I think on here https://intimaclinic.pl/ google will usually translate is automatically. Go under "for her" on the menu bar at the top of the page, then "diagnostics" on the left hand side, then "ultrasound".

Just go private.

i went private twenty years ago when the nhs refused to even put me on a waiting list.

they found endo, lasered a lot of it off and it really helped.

I would also go private. Do not wait. Waiting times for gynaecology in many areas in the NHS are miles long.

I was diagnosed with endometriosis and your symptoms are certainly suggestive of this. Any symptoms that are cyclical in nature and or gets worse up to and including menses should be checked to see if endometriosis is present.

i have also had more internal ultrasound scans than I care to mention and none of them showed the vast array of endometriosis present. The Mirena coil is also not a licenced treatment for endometriosis either and is mainly offered because it’s cheap. A laparoscopy is the usual way endometriosis is diagnosed. The type of cyst on your ovary needs to be properly determined because chocolate cysts can be related to endometriosis too.

Thanks all, Im feeling very deflated today. I feel people just think im being dramatic and using my period as an excuse, but my cycles really do impact my life significantly.

Is there any known link between endometriosis and hyperemisis when pregnant?
