Discharged by gynaecologist….after finding endometriosis

I had a laparoscopy in 2021
After back and forth to the GP with weird period and monthly symptoms
Heavy periods
leg aches
extreme tiredness etc etc
Anyway had my laparoscopy, woke up and nobody came to see me to tell me what was found (if anything ) nurses had no idea.
Went home…a month later received a letter saying they had found endometriosis on the womb and that I was discharged from gynaecology.
I was so confused
Why didn’t they remove it
Will it keep growing etc etc
Went to GP who only said they must not of needed to remove it
So that was that
They wouldn’t send me back to gynaecology

So years later still same symptoms
Can anyone shed any light why they didn’t remove it ?
I feel like I wasn’t treated well

Can’t you contact the gynae department?

You were fobbed off. Did they merely do a diagnostic lap Op (a complete waste of time). It should have been removed if found (I am wondering if the surgeon not skilled enough to remove it?).

Endometriosis does not go away of its own accord.

I would see another gp at the surgery and get referred to see a gynae st another hospital . If this practice remain unhelpful then re register at another gp practice. If finances permit I would also consider seeing a gynae as a private patient for an initial consultation.

did they definitely not remove what they could see, or did they just not describe that in the letter? Normally they'd sort out what they can see unless there was something else going on that made that unsafe immediately.

luluxxx · 15/04/2026 17:54

No they didn’t touch it as it was only a diagnostic lap
i don’t understand why they didn’t remove it or book me for another one

For a start they wouldn’t have removed the endometriosis if you hadn’t been consented for this procedure preoperatively.

It is absolutely shocking how women in this country are treated. I was speaking to a colleague who is from Poland and she said in her country it would be unusual to wait longer than 2 weeks to see a gynae whether you're private or not, and the level of treatment is much higher and more professional than here. And Poland has never exactly been a beacon for women's rights. It makes you wonder where we've gone wrong.

Women’s health in the pits.

Begged for help 2023 had spinal surgery- you still left me constipated and with a numb tummy no one could explain.

I’ve been woken from hysteroscopies to be lied to like no tomorrow,

how I view women’s health as treated.

This happened to me but it was 33 years ago so it seems not much has changed. I never did have surgery to remove it, though Danazol, full time contraceptive pill and other mimic menopause drugs were offered and refused because the side effects of most of what were on offer looked awful. I had two pregnancies- both really helped me with the endo for a period during and after and then the mirena, which was a complete Godsend. Now post menopausal and all a distant memory. I hope you get the treatment you need 💐
