I have a protruding disc and have been working at home since October. Its causing sciatica for me and terrible lower back pain I am due to have radiofrequency nerve ablation in a couple of weeks.

Yours might settle down, it might get worse nobody knows.

Did you have an MRI?

I struggle immensly to do every day tasks and i have 3 bulging discs and a bad knee.
I think it would be beyond immposaible for you. If you cant get through to gp turn up. You defintley shouldnt be just left

it’s not even just work, i do school run then 30min bus journey with a pushchair, a 15 min walk up a rather steep hill, then down again for work, then up again to collect child and pushchair, down again then jog to bus stop
or i miss bus. Bus home, school pic up then home

Don’t panic- although I know from experience it is very scary. Try and get an appointment with a private physiotherapist asap. Ask around your locality for recommendations. May cost £ 60+ for your first appointment , depending on where you live, but it is money well spent. Then you must do the exercises they advise! Start v slowly and build up whilst listening to your body. You’ll be surprised how quickly you can improve.
Meanwhile, use regular ice packs for a couple of days and then heat pads if you like. It is important to keep moving little and often, if you can. All the very best. Big hug.

I would say at least a couple of months before you can get back to some degree of normality. I had a wonderful private physio who helped me - after the NHS physio effectively set me back weeks through incompetence. I could only stand or lie, I was unable to sit and the sciatica persisted for several years. Staying mobile is good though, but I can't see how you'd be able to manage a bus or pushchair.

I hope you feel better soon, it's the most painful and debilitating injury. 💐
