Stopping Depo after 25 years

Hi all, just looking for some advice or maybe what to expect.

I've been on the Depo Provera contraceptive since I was around 20 years old. I'm 46 now.

I had a break from it at 27 and 31 to have my two children and then went straight back on it.

I've started to notice some possible menopausal symptoms, but it's difficult to know when I'm on the jab.

Honestly, I also would just like to have a break from the hormones after such a long time.

With the Depo you just stop taking it, and I was just wondering if anyone else had done the same and what to expect from it, especially now that I'm probably at menopause age too.

Any advice or recommendations welcome.

I'll also need to consider alternative non-hormonal contraception.

I'm going to look into some calcium and vitamin D supplements as I know it's probably had an effect on my bone health, which I'm keen to reverse as much as possible.

Thanks 😊

Bumping your post @iwishiwasonacruise

I'm 45 and been on depo for 19 years and I'm also wondering if I should be stopping soon too. I had some peri symptoms which I'm managing so they are hardly noticeable now. I did wonder if we stopped but decided we wanted to go back on it, we wouldn't be allowed as isn't 50 the cut off? I also wonder if the depo will help me manage any menopausal changes to my cycle?

Hopefully somebody who is our age has just stopped so can share their experience!
