Hysteroscopy biopsy results

Flowerpower70 · 12/03/2026 14:20

I had a hysteroscopy as i had womb thickening. They took samples and removed polyps. I not had periods since January. They were going to put a coil in but i said I want to try a pill first but not got any yet. Never had my own children or any progesterone.
I got results back and it says the biopsy taken from the lining of the womb has been reported as no evidence of abnormal cells including cancer. There was some features of polpy formation. They also mentioned some findings which are difficult to interpret due to the phase of the menstrual cycle at the time of taking samples. The lab has recommended repeating the biopsy in the future in the first half of the menstrual cycle if necessary.
Is this something bad? I'm scared of what they mean by ""findings""?? I am all over the place with periods could it be peri? So can't get it done in first half of cycle as don't know when period be?!?!
Thank in advance!!

I would try not to worry. Believe me, if there was anything that concerning they have you in and be discussing it with you.
Yes, the phase before peri, peri and then menopause can cause all sorts of changes.
I am well past menopause now, I’ve never had kids, and have had a few investigations now. Last time some polyps were removed.
Maybe speak to your GP to go through the results with you.
But please, please try not to worry. If there was anything awful lurking they’d be making a follow up appointment straight away.
No abnormal cells and no cancer? Brilliant.
I now frame whatever test it is an MOT.

Phew! Thank you. No experience of this kind of thing. Just got a bloated belly. Meh. I did have some polyps removed I had it done under GA. Can't wear trousers due to the bloat and I got a 84mm ovarian cyst which may be affecting hormones..!

Always go for a GA every time I’m glad that’s what you had.

Aww thanks I had to push for it quite a bit but I'd read about the campaign against painful hysteroscopy and as u never had my own children I'm glad I did. Still waiting for phonecall from gynae to explain what the findings were....

Thank you. I spoke to consultant who said all is OK no cancer. Phew! Or any bad cells. I am having awful night sweats and hot flush so probably peri and feel bloated but have a 8.2cm okay cyst. She said to watch for abnormal bleeding. I not had a period for 2 months so if I have another period will that be classed as abnormal bleeding or not having one will that be abnormal?
