Why is my period lighter than usual all of the sudden?

I am going to be 30 this year and not close to perimenopause and I noticed my period is much lighter than usual. This month I have spotting for 5 days before my actual period and my actual period starts 5 days later sometimes with a light flow and it’s not as heavy as it used to be. I used to have spotting for a day before my period started and it was always heavy after that. What is causing a change in my period whew I get spotting for 5 days before my period starts then it’s a light flow. Is this normal or abnormal and what can this mean?

Really? How come? What is it caused by?

How should I know? You are getting far too worried about this.

I am just wondering because I never spotted 5 days before my period before so I’m a little concerned

Sounds like health anxiety to me - the more you post. No one here can tell you what it is - we are not doctors

you need to just forget about it for now. It’s overwhelmingly likely it’s just a thing - and you’ll have many more of these ‘things’ over the years as that’s hormones for you

perhaps see the GP about your anxiety

@Gymnastxo96 you are still quite young. You need to understand that your period will change through life. Hormone levels change, your weight fluctuates, stress, exercise can all affect it even if it’s been the same all your life. See a doctor if it’s persistent over a few months, but for one month - don’t worry.

I agree with PP re the smear test and / or your period started earlier.

Mid to late 30s is not unusual for perimenopause too. Mine started around the end of my 30s and I noticed a lot more sensitivity to hormonal fluctuations.

But I am only 30 that’s early for perimenopause am I showing signs of it already?

How do we know?! Honestly op I don’t mean to be unkind but just stop now. There’ll be nothing wrong with you, bar health anxiety
