Menopausal brain fog - how do you treat it if gynae cancer in family?

I am 50 years old and only been taking HRT Everol patches for about a year or so as I was afraid to take anything due to breast and ovarian cancers in my i’m immediate family. It has done nothing to clear my brain fog. The specialist gynaecologist recommended testosterone - to dap a tiny amount of my ankle but, again, reading the side effects concerning me, including weight gain. My GP suggested a higher dose of progesterone and estrogen but I’m afraid to take them.

Menopausal vitamins carry a warning for those with breast cancer in the family.

I take a multivitamin, vitamin E, D and Omega 3 daily.

Is there anything I can try to clear this fog? Thank you!

What side effects of testosterone worry you? I'm taking it and the only side effects I'm getting is a hairier belly where I apply it. It helps hugely.

You have to decide whether you’re going to accept medical opinion or not.

my gran, two of her sisters and my aunt all died of variants of gynae cancer, so I’m understandably jumpy. My consultant urogynecologist said I am fine with evoral at a high dose, plus vaginal oestrogen, plus testosterone bevause of the progesterone in the mirena coil. I’m scanned regularly too. I’m 55 and still ovulating. Apparently my risk of carcinoma is almost zero because of the mirena. My doc was v clear that without it I can’t have the oestrogen unless I also had a hysterectomy.

Hope that helps.
