Coughing and peeing

The baby is 11 months old and I have a terrible cough. I know in normal circumstances you'd all send me to the pelvic physio but I can't work out if peeing myself with a nasty cough is well within the realms of expected after only a year, and not worth paying for a session. Normally I'm completely fine, run, jump laugh etc.

I still dribble a little bit if I have a heavy coughing fit and my youngest will be 5 in a couple of months.

I wouldn’t worry.

If it were me I'd be stepping up my pelvic floor exercises, and if that didn't work and I could afford it I'd be looking to a specialist, because no you shouldn't be leaking still unless maybe you had some really traumatic injuries that took a while to heal (and NHS would probably fob you off).
It's probably normal/common but so is a lot of not ideal stuff.

It's not unusual, but it shouldn't be considered normal. Women shouldn't be leaking at this point post pregnancy. I'd start by downloading the NHS Squeezy app if you haven't already (it's a couple of quid but worth it) and also book a private appointment if you can afford it. Even one, with some specific exercises, will make a big difference to your progress.

I wouldn't worry - I've had four kids. I can jog, jump anything and no issues but I also leaked recently with a heavy cough. It puts incredible strain on your insides! I cracked a rib coughing once... I don't think your body is ever 100% back to prebirth self but I wouldn't worry unless it carries on when the cough subsides.. then see your GP.

Thanks all! I really wasn't sure how expected it is at this stage, or if it was just another patience, still early days thing. I thought I'd got away with it because this is the first time I've had issues, but also the first cough I've had. Sneezing and lifting are fine! I've had the squeezy app for ages and do actually use it.

I'm not UK, but it looks like pelvic physio is actually included in the basic mandatory insurance so I've contacted a specialist. I want to try for a second so had better get it sorted, otherwise morning sickness will be messy...
