Diastases recti

Hi everyone,

Can you please recommend a plastic surgeon in London to fix my diastasis recti? I had two big babies, and I’m a small-framed woman. No amount of physio, including exercises specifically prescribed for this issue, has fixed my diastasis recti.

It’s been almost four years. I’ve exercised regularly during this time, and the separation has improved to some extent, but I still look about six months pregnant. Everywhere else I’m lean and strong. I have back pain as a result, functional limitations, and honestly, I’m very sad about how I look. Getting dressed is stressful because I’m constantly trying to hide my belly.

I also have an umbilical hernia. I’ve been advocating for myself with the NHS for nearly four years. They’ve agreed to repair the hernia, but not the separated muscles.

I would like to find a private plastic surgeon who can fix everything in one surgery. If anyone has gone through this route and can recommend a private plastic surgeon in London, I would really appreciate it.

Many thanks for reading and for any advice.

Watching with interest as I am exactly the same as you expect I carried twins to full term (big babies) which caused this issue and they are teens now and I am pretty fit and lean everywhere else but still look 4 months pregnant!

It doesn’t really bother me enough to have surgery and I have no back pain etc but I’ve learned how to dress for it. I’m interested in others’ experiences.

Dr Dan Marsh, aka Bodies by Dan. His work is remarkable

I had this exact thing hernia and all with AXA. They were cautious about it too as the recti is considered cosmetic but I managed to bully them into it
