SORRY!-*PRE-menopause not 'per'!

Hi all, so i'm a fit, relatively healthy 40 year old. 5'6, 8st.

But i've had awful symptoms for over a year- irregular periods, night sweats, hair loss, acne, insomnia, brain fog.

I finally saw a consultant last week who did an ultrasound and took bloods, turns out he believes i'm experiencing early menopause and i have very low testosterone according to my bloods.

I've been prescribed oestrogen gel but i've been looking at natural ways to improve my testosterone levels- it suggests weight lifting, eating red meat, poultry, oily fish, taking zinc, vitamin d, magnesium supplements etc- which is great, but i already do all those things, weight training 4 days a week as it currently stands too and have for 18 months.

Does anyone else have any experience of this and any suggestions/tips for helping to improve the situation at all, please?

TIA x

Following. I'm 42 as well and I've just found out that I'm going through similar. I was officially told today that I am going through menopause. My periods have been erratic for about a year now. Still taking it in to be honest. I think it's the finality of it all! I've been getting hot flashes and brain fog/anxiety so far, no night sweats. Have a doctors appointment next week to discuss/ decide on HRT. I'm starting to think about bone/heart too. Would love to hear peoples tips also!

OP if you are on Hrt and have low testosterone some NHS doctors will also agree to prescribe testosterone gel too, it's worth checking.

You're in perimenopause, not unusual at 42. Did your consultant prescribe progesterone as well as your oestrogen gel? If you still have your womb, you need to take progesterone as tablets or a coil to protect your womb lining

I had v low testosterone and have been using Testogel for about 2 months. Had a blood test last week and I've got from the low end of normal range to top end of normal range. Feeling big improvement in my mood, focus, confidence and libido. Ask your GP about prescribing Testogel - mention low libido, that seems to be the golden ticket!
