You need to go to GP. This is possible and there are a range of options to support a prolapse but it would need an urgent medical assessment.

I had one after giving birth to my now 10 year old. I couldn't see it though. It seemed to correct its self when I was pregnant with my now 9 year old.

I’ve contacted the doctor but the next appointment they’ve given me is the 23 feb. Luckily I have my postnatal check before then!

If you have the money, see a qualified womens health physio asap. They are experts at prolapse. The GP may also refer you to one at your 6 week check. Mine was visible after birth but less so after a few weeks.

Yes - I did. I had a pelvic floor repair. Life changing.

I had 30 years with no issues and then I could feel it return - and also could see my cervix sometimes. GP referred me to gynae and a women's health physio as an alternative to surgery (hysterectomy). Gynae gave me a pessary which really made a difference and after a few sessions with the physio I don't need it.

northernladys · 03/02/2026 13:08

@OllyBJollydid you have surgery?

@OllyBJollydid you have surgery?

I had surgery but this would have been 30 years ago. It was a major op with a long recovery time but so worth it. Probably TMI but I couldn't poo without some manipulation. After the op I had no issues at all until last couple of years when I felt my cervix "drop" and could actually see it.

I was offered surgery this time but the gynae advised seeing the physio first. I really don't think I'll need surgery now.
Have to say -I was taken so much more seriously now than I was 30 years ago when my female GP told me toilet issues were "a cross we women have to bear". Current GP listened, looked and referred me. She is fab.

im currently seeing a pelvic physio for this. I’ve had to pay to see her privately but she’s been great. My gp has also referred me to gynae but it a long wait.

northernladys · 04/02/2026 07:36

Thanks for your help. @Girlintheframeis yours after childbirth? Would you say physio is improving your stage?

No - hopefully I'll never see it again!

I have the app on my phone that gives me an alert to do the pelvic floor exercises. That worked for me this time. Post partum all these years ago the consultant said all the exercises in the world wouldn't resolve my issues, only surgery would do that.

@Girlintheframe I think I waited 18 months to see the gynae consultant. Her referral to the NHS physio was about a month. If I had known about gynae physios I would have also looked for a private one.

Girlintheframe · 04/02/2026 11:50

@northernladys my prolapse is not post childbirth but I know people who have visited a private physio post partum. Like @OllyBJolly I have an app on my phone. I do pelvic floor exercises 4xs a day. I’m actually going back to see my physio tomorrow. The wait for gynae is so long that if you can afford to see a physio privately you should. The gp just confirmed what type of prolapse I had then did the referral. They also suggested a private pelvic physio but I appreciate not everyone has that option. Mine is an hours drive away but if it helps I’m willing to attend.

I have an appointment for the beginning of March x
