Bladder prolapse surgery

Has anyone had an anterior repair for a cystocoele prolapse NOT using mesh?

I have a severe prolapse and have tried a number of "pessaries" but they all work their way out. Ive been told I can have corrective surgery but the document Ive been given to read sounds very negative citing a high failure rate and the surgery causing other issues with bladder and potentially bowel.

Does anyone have any positive stories? Im 60.

Sorry to hear of your problem.

I don’t think mesh is used at all in such prolapse surgery.

I had prolapse surgery (no mesh) and unfortunately after a couple of years the prolapse recurred. I’ve been told I won’t be able to have further surgery so have to rely on a pessary. It’s not great but better than having a prolapsed bladder.

I tried several types before having a Popy pessary. It’s quite different to the ring type - have you tried it?

I had mine at aged 45. The recovery period was a bit painful as my bladder wouldn’t empty but it’s worked and no pain or issues now. I can’t run anymore of lift heavy items but other than that is all okay and still have a sex life!

I currently have a similar style like a sink plunger think it's called a gelhorn. It has stayed in but worked it's way down and is uncomfortable!
