Hi,
My friend is having a hysterectomy today due to endometrial cancer stage 1; thankfully, they have caught it early. She is worried about her post-op recovery.
Are there any tips, advice, or resources to help her recovery journey? Easy access to support group?
My friend is not a tech geek.

TIA. x

I had hysterectomy plus for advanced ovarian cancer. No lifting anything heavier that a small pan of water for first month and lift nothing heavy for 8 weeks. Try and walk a bit everyday - took me 4 weeks to work up to a mile. And if it isn’t keyhole, find a physio who does scar therapy and book in after 10 weeks - mine has made such a difference, stops everything sticking together and odd aches and pains as it’s all moving freely.

She had keyhole surgery and is still in the hospital. I will let her know.
Thank you x

Definitely keep trying to walk, just a little bit, up and down the corridor every hour was my aim and helped, don’t be afraid to ask for pain relief, it hurts at times. It takes time to everything to settle down again, especially bowels etc, but they do. I think I just needed to accept it will take time, then once I began feeling better I had some physio/1:1 Pilates to just get me feeling better about myself.

I’m more relaxed now. She is finally home, I will let her rest. The surgeon said the operation went smoothly and there were no complications.

@ZoeyBartlett Thanks for the advice. You must have gone through a rocky health journey. I imagine that facing cancer brought a lot of struggles and hardships.
I hope that you are enjoying the life you want and having a healthy and happy journey.

@samlovesdilys You have gone through the op too. Thank you for taking your time to reply and for being able to drop in and add advice and suggestions. I'm glad you are feeling better and see improvement. I hope you have a happy and healthy journey too.
