Can I request topical oestrogen at 38?

My vulva is driving me insane. It feel like it’s inflamed with a prickling, sort of itchy, burn that thrush cream is doing nothing for.

I’ve checked it carefully for white or thinning skin, but I can’t see any changes, apart from a little redness.

I have been looking in to what could cause this and apart from thrush or lichen sclerosis, the only other explanation seems to be a drop in oestrogen. Would I be able to try it and see if it helps or do you need to be in active peri? I’m not sure I am in active peri……

I think your GP would want to see you before they prescribe anything like that.
Sounds like LS, not sure if there are always white patches present though?

My GP always wants to see you face-to-face if you need any new medication.

@Maneattraction I have an appointment with the GP in January……January ! I will have ripped my lips off by then.

Could it be LS with out skin changes? I would welcome a definitive answer, even if it means I have a condition that needs to be managed for life.

I was given it at 39, but only after I had seen a gynaecologist. I have vulval dermatitis, oestrogen helped a bit and I use dermol 500 after I've been the loo. It only really got better once they prescribed me hrt a full 7 years later... I still get it, but I can get on top of it more quickly now. Ask the GP for a referral to a vulval clinic if they aren't sure what the issue is.
