Forgetful or amnesia perimenopause

Hi!
I’ve had a few scary forgetfulness episodes. I’m 49 and putting it down to perimenopause, but I’m wondering if any one else has the same experiences. I completely forgot how to spell a really easy word ‘everywhere’. For the life of me I spent a good minute and a half trying to work out how to spell it. Then a couple of weeks later I’d been to the cinema. I don’t where makeup unless I go out and I was washing my face in the evening and i couldn’t remember why I had put makeup on that day. It took about a minute to remember that I’d put it on to go to the cinema. This doesn’t feel like what is described as brain fog. It’s quite scary when it happens. Does anyone else experience this sort of thing?
thank you

Go have a chat with the Dr.
Low B12/folate, ferritin, vitamin D or thyroid issues call also cause similar issues. It’s worth excluding those before accepting it’s just peri.

I have been having a few issues too. Mainly spelling and grammar. I have to look up words like anytime, everyday and thank you to see if they are one or two words when writing a sentence etc. I used to have faultless spelling and grammar but now it feels like a foreign language.

It’s so scary when it happens. I know brain fog happens in perimenopause but I wouldn’t class this as brain fog. It’s like complete memory loss and I have to work really hard to retrieve the memory.

I have this occasionally. I know exactly what you mean - it's not like normal forgetfulness, it's like a total mind blank and it feels very scary.

I am also deficient in B12 and ferritin and have to work hard with diet and supplements to keep my levels up. It doesn't happen when I'm on an even keel but I know when I'm dipping because that's when I start losing words, forgetting where I've parked the car, etc.

I have a terrible word finding (especially names) problem. I had no idea the name of one of my staff who I spend all day with. I think having a chat with the gp is a good idea, just to rule out other things. My estrogen levels are really low, even on HRT so looking at alternate methods to get the estrogen.

It could be a basic and resolvable nutrient deficiency. . Get tested for B12.
And the Omega 3 index, low levels have cognitive impairment symptoms . You need a minimum of 8. Most people in the US and UK are below 5.

Yes ! Exactly as you describe.
I've just on Friday been diagnosed with low bit D.
Hoping the supplements may help.
I'd get a good MOT at your Gp
