Contraception that doesn’t mess with hormones too much - need some suggestions

Before my 2 children I was on the Nexplanon implant which worked really well and didn’t seem to have any issues with it other than a reduced libido. I gave birth 4 months ago and it’s about time I get contraception sorted asap as I am not planning on having another baby for another few years.

Since having my first child I suffer with extreme anxiety, mostly health anxiety which can cause panic attacks so I get scared literally doing anything to my body I am not supposed to do, taking anything putting anything in or on me! It’s a nightmare!

I have quite bad PMDD and this only started after my second baby who was born in July, but now a week before my period is absolute hell! It’s a mental and physical battle that is just awful.

I want to try and find a contraception that might help regulate my hormones or not mess them up even more and I know certain ones can make mental health worse.

Can other women please let me know what to avoid going by their experiences and what they have found best for them. Thank you in advance! X

The thing is that while all contraceptives are generally uniform, women are all different. What works for some won’t work for the same way for you. Trial and error is generally the only way to find out.

I’d say if Nexplanon worked for you then try a progesterone only option again like Desogestrel pills.

If you don’t want to put anything in your body then why not just use condoms?

Or just a coil without hormones

@PigeonsandSquirrels I am allergic to condoms, gives me thrush every single time otherwise this would be perfect for me!

@nightmarepickle2025 I haven’t heard of this as I have always been on the implant or on nothing at all, I would say a little uneducated. I will look into this and try to find a forum that discusses coils. Thank you

Vasectomies

but seeing as you want another baby - copper coil?
