Mirena Coil issues

Just wondered if anybody else has or had similar issues with the mirena coil. I am 47 and had coil fitted 5m ago for heavy but regular periods. 2 days post fit I started to bleed and haven't stopped. Regular flooding and clots as large as palm of my hand. Norethisterone had no effect on stopping or slowing bleeding, tranexamic acid has limited effect. Asked to get coil removed but threads missing so sent for scan. Had TVUSS which showed multiple uterine fibroids and a heamorraghic cyst on ovary, also a cervical fibroid which I have been on 2ww and had MRI to confirm ( awaiting results). Gynae cons told me stick with coil and try minipill which stopped the bleeding for 7 days then it came back with avengance. Told to double up on minipill which has slowed things off a little. Fed up, feel like progesterone has caused all of these problems, gone from regular periods and no medication to bleeding daily and multiple meds, also new fibroids and cysts. Had hysteroscopy 2 years ago to remove fibroids which I now realise were found 4 months after i tried the minipill for the first time and stopped it due to excessive bleeding! Sorry for long post but wondered if anyine else had similar experience of fibroids etc after progesterone?

I'm so sorry this is happening to you. I also had (different) issues sparked off by the coil. If you think removing it is best for you - insist! Xxx

Nowhere near as bad as your experience but I am fed up with the irregular bleeding on the coil and seem to bleed more often than not despite having it in since April. Mine is being removed tomorrow if all goes to plan. At least then I will only have to deal with a period once a month rather than most of it!

Good luck with the removal, hope it sorts your problems out. Can't wait to get rid of mine!
