Missed pill

Hello!

I normally take my Yasmin pill at approx 8am. Just realised ive forgotten to take it this morning so have taken it now. I have tomorrow and Thursdays pill left then due 7 day break. I know I should carry on and not take a 7 day break due to my missed pill today.
Here's the issue. I ran my last pack into this one without taking a break as id done a similar thing but had seven pills left but thought id play safe and not take a break.

First time this has ever happened, I usually take it like clockwork every day but have been so preoccupied lately!

What do I now do as ive taken today's late and only have 2 pills left but have already run packs together?
Thanks all!

I would do exactly the same as you did before.

Also, ask you doctor about Nexplanon. It goes in your arm and is good for 5 years at a time. And 99.99% effective. Its what I used after the pill because the pill increased my risk of blood clots :/

A pill taken at the wrong time is how I had my first daughter. I had been on that pill for almost 20 years too.

What about morning after? Just to be sure. Otherwise take tests straight away after the 2 week wait and if it's positive get onto BPAS that day.

This is from the patient info leaflet:

  • If you are more than 12 hours late taking a tablet, the protection against pregnancy may be reduced. The greater the number of tablets that you have forgotten, the greater is the risk of becoming pregnant.

The risk of incomplete protection against pregnancy is greatest if you forget a tablet at the beginning or at the end of the strip. Therefore, you should keep to the following rules (see the diagram on page 14):

  • More than one tablet forgotten in this strip
  • Contact your doctor.
  • One tablet forgotten in week 1

Take the forgotten tablet as soon as you remember, even if that means that you have to take two tablets at the same time. Continue taking the tablets at the usual time and use extra precautions for the next 7 days, for example, a condom. If you have had sex in the week before forgetting the tablet you may be pregnant. In that case, contact your doctor.

  • One tablet forgotten in week 2

Take the forgotten tablet as soon as you remember, even if that means that you have to take two tablets at the same time. Continue taking the tablets at the usual time. The protection against pregnancy is not reduced, and you do not need to take extra precautions.

  • One tablet forgotten –in week 3
  • You can choose between two possibilities:
  1. Take the forgotten tablet as soon as you remember, even if that means that you have to take two tablets at the same time. Continue taking the tablets at the usual time. Instead of having seven pill-free days start the next strip.
Most likely, you will have a period at the end of the second strip or you may also have light or menstruation-like bleeding during the second strip.
  1. You can also stop the strip and go directly to the tablet-free period of 7 days (record the day on which you forgot your tablet). If you want to start a new strip on the day you always start, make the tablet-free period less than 7 days.
If you follow one of these two recommendations, you will remain protected against pregnancy.
  • If you have forgotten any of the tablets in a strip, and you do not have a bleeding during the first tablet-free period, you may be pregnant. Contact your doctor before you start the next strip.

As you've run 2 packs together already you will have been taking it for at least 21 days so you'd be protected from pregnancy even if you took your pill break now. Or you could just start the new pack straight after this one.

ILoveCatsAndKittens · 29/10/2025 11:52

Is it ok to run three packs together?

Thank you for this, I havent heard of Nexplanon.

If you take Yasmin for something like PCOS it tends to better for PCOS symptoms than the implant would be. If you are normally consistent, then a one-off will be fine, its just human error. use extra protection if you do have sex and it should be fine.

I used to take femodene and never took a break in the packs. It’s fine to do this

Thank you for this, I havent heard of Nexplanon.

I've been on it for 8ish years now and zero complaints! It definitely takes away the headache of pills, and also its way more effective. I've never had a pregnancy scare on Nexplanon.
