Repeated post menopausal bleeding

I’m a 52 year old woman not on HRT. Had a post menopausal bleed in April and an abnormal scan in June which put me on the 2 week wait for suspected cancer pathway. Thickened endometrium, poorly defined endometrium, 4.5 cm fibroid, polyp and ovarian cyst. Polyp was removed and found to be benign, though gynaecologist said would have another scan to check on the cyst four months later. Now having a second postmenopausal bleed and have been to the GP who has requested an urgent scan. Have others had this and what was their experience? I’m obviously a bit worried but determined not to give it the headspace after going though all of this already in the summer.

I had post-menopausal bleeds which were caused by fibroids and elected to have a hysterectomy. It’s easy for me to say, but try not to worry. I’ll be thinking of you.

Thank you. The GP has booked me in for an urgent scan, she said about 3 weeks -and they’d see what the results of that are before another possible 2 week wait pathway. At least it will show how things are in comparison to the first. I did read somewhere that there’s only a 25% chance of a PMB after a first occurrence, so bit surprised to have another one only 6 months later. Did you have bleeding all the time or on and off?

I had several PMB on and off, like having periods again when I knew I shouldn’t have.
At the first hospital the consultant attributed them to “hormone surges” which I believed. IIRC these “periods” went on for three years.
It was during a routine smear, when I mentioned feeling constipated, that fibroids were found. I asked to be referred to a specialist women’s hospital where it was discovered I had two fibroids which had merged, too big to remove vaginally.
The consultant was exasperated that I had been misdiagnosed however there was no rush or persuasion to have surgery. It was entirely my decision. I saw a way out of the issue and avoidance of several potential gynae cancers, opting for a total hysterectomy (ovaries, tubes, uterus, cervix) and haven’t looked back.
I hope it’s equally straightforward for you. x

Have been booked in for an ultrasound scan- in 7.5 weeks time. Feels like quite a wait for post menopausal bleeding. I don’t know if having an abnormal scan in June makes it more urgent, or if having had a polyp removed then which was found to be benign makes it less urgent because a biopsy has been performed.

It's likely that the polyp being begin has relaxed them somewhat, also waiting times are mid-high. If anything changes let them know as they may want to see you quicker as a result. Also it has been spotted quite early so that's good, if you want to I'd push for the fibroid and cyst to be removed if there are still there.

Also is the bleeding heavy?
