BV back again? Will my boyfriend need treatment

I’ve had BV possibly 5 times this year, I’m unsure if that means it’s chronic? Each time It’s been like an internal burning feeling in vagina, no odour no discharge and It sometimes makes me feel like I need to pee. Just things don’t feel normal below. I’ve had full sexual check up due to new partner and that was fine, BV has picked up on the swabs and treatment has seemed to work but the thing is I don’t want to keep being scared of sex or swimming / and I also don’t want to keep taking antibiotics as I’ve been prone to thrush in past,

what other options do I have out there? Rather than antibiotics
will my boyfriend have BV now? If I was to take treatment and not him then get rid would I then be reinfected say if we have sex was treatment complete, as seen new research but at same time..how long does it stay on guy system etc

is there a swab out there thats accurate so I can know for sure rather than having to go to gps each time as sometimes I can’t tell if its just dryness/uti etc

Have you only tried antibiotics as treatment? It might be worth trying the gels next, that you buy in pharmacies. Your body might respond better to these, but it’ll be trial and error.

I think it’s been established that BV can be transmitted during sex, but then so can thrush, so it doesn’t automatically mean that he’s got it or is carrying it.

I thought they had established that men are passing it on now - so yes it won't go away unless he is also treated. Historically it was seen as a woman's disease because men don't show symptoms, but as many of us know you can go sex free for years then suddenly get it when you go near a new man. It can be carried by them.

I would suggest checking in your GP given the recurrence.

It definitely can go away even if the man isn’t treated. Yes, they can be carriers, they can pass it on, but they don’t always.

But he needs treating to ensure he isn't just giving it back to her, which it seems he has been doing.

Maybe, but not necessarily. If she’s getting it after intercourse it might be that he’s passing it to her, but it’s much more likely that his semen is affecting her PH balance in a way that acts as a trigger.

Sorry, I’m not meaning to be argumentative, but i have a lot of personal experience with this, unfortunately.

Well she can either treat him and be sure he isn't giving it back to her or not and not be sure.
I know what I would do.

Hi everyone, forgot to add every other time i’ve had this I wasn’t with him.

this is the first time in 4 month (since seeing him, had sex plenty times which gave me hope it was finally gone for good - well not as..)
then I’m unsure if its been due to oral/fingers :(

He doesn’t finish inside

even prior to him I was getting this yet, I shower daily don’t use any soaps, never douche, don’t even go swimming because scared of infection, I wear pads instead of tampons and ones I wash on 60 :(
underwear is cotton
never any scented products yet ://
its so frustrating
