Sorry I find stuff hard to explain so just bare with me please..

I’m posted here a few weeks ago about bleeding for 60 odd days well now I’m at 71 days and there is no sign of it stopping as of yet..
What I need advice on is I have been taking tranexamic acid it hasn’t stopped the bleeding just slowed it down so I could go about my life as before I was flooding really bad multiple times a day.i went to the doctors a few days ago to see what my other options where and she gave me a prescription for another tablet that is a progesterone tablet but the thing is I am so sensitive to progesterone I have had the implant in and it sent me suicidal and nearly got me sectioned it ruined 10 months of my life and the same with the jag..now I feel like I am stuck I don’t know what to do I’m so worried about going back to the g.p because they are just going to nip at me for not taking this tablet I asked her before I left the doctors room if this would affect my hormones and she said no..I am supposed to pick the medicine up today but I’m seriously concerned about taking it..any advice would be amazing thank you

if it affected you last time, I would be reluctant to take it as well. I think that the doctor should take you more seriously, as the bleeding has been going on for a long time. I would ask the GP to refer you to a specialist as it needs to be found out why.

I found tranexamic acid tablets to be of no use either sadly.

I would go back to the GP and insist on being referred to a gynaecologist. I ended up going private for such issues as the NHS did not want to take any further action after they had performed a blood test giving normal results. I felt dreadful and was becoming increasingly breathless after exertion.

In my cases the uncontrollable peri menopausal bleeding was caused by constant rises and falls of both progesterone and oestrogen. I had ablation surgery which removed the uterine lining.

I would go and see your GP, get either a higher dose of tranexamic acid or try northisterone as it will massively help to reduce heavy bleeding and control it, make sure you take it correctly, and it will help a lot. Definitely get a transvaginal ultrasound to check for fibroids or anything else.

So during a menstrual cycle, progesterone is released later on (luteal phase) - it basically tells the hypothalamus and pituitary glands, stop now you've done your job (which is thinking the uterus lining), let's not go overboard, and progesterone maintains the uterus lining (whereas after your period, estrogen stimulates it to grow more). Essentially, the hypothalamus, or pituitary glands, at that point, stop producing FSH and LH, which means that less estrogen is produced.

So, more progesterone means that we can suppress estrogen secretion and hopefully stop the growth of the uterine lining (which is helpful for periods, as it can thin the lining and also help shrink fibroids if you have some, resulting in less bleeding and cramps). I would ask about vaginal progesterone perhaps, so the pessary or a capsule to use that way, and mointor your mental health a lot, look at the dosage from last time, and see if it was quite high so that your GP can prescribe something lower. You could also use anti-depressants with it to prevent worsening mental health. But really push for that ultrasound and get on northisterone as well.

You will need to be persistent in order to get answers.

Prior to the ablation surgery the gynae I saw prescribed northisterone which worked until the course ran out and at that point I started bleeding again. A further course of northisterone did not stop the bleeding!. I would certainly push for further investigations like an internal ultrasound and medication like northisterone.
