If you've tried both Wellgard and Nutrition Geeks Collagen...

Which did you prefer? Just finishing my first three months of Nutrition Geeks Collagen Glow-Up powder and have been happy with the results; mainly better hair and nails. Thinking of trying Wellgard as heard good things and it's cheaper (and the tub and scoop look easier to use than the big zip-seal bags).

Thanks for any advice.

I’ve not tried wellgard, but I’m using nutrition geeks at the moment. Not sure if it’s doing anything other than stronger nails! But will keep trying for a while longer - when I ordered they gave discount on other products and on second order I could get an extra pouch for a reduced price. I decant it into a tub to make it easier to use.

isitmytime · 05/09/2025 20:53

I’ve tried both and there’s not a lot of difference between them. Both tasteless…I have them in coffee and I didn’t notice any noticeable difference between the results when I switched between them.

How long have you been taking it? I think my hair might be a bit thicker and healthier, but hard to tell as I've had a decent hair cut, too! Thanks for your message :-)

Thank you for this; I can taste the Nutrition Geeks one in my tea! I don't drink coffee, sadly, as heard it's great in that. I have been putting it in porridge (disguised with fruit and honey) or kefir/Greek yoghurt, or a smoothie. All quite sugary and a faff to make sometimes just to get the collagen in.

I think I'm going to switch to the £9.99 Wellgard stuff on Amazon for three months then tbh, as Nutrition Geeks is coming out at around £15/£16 per month.

I've tried the wellgard one and I didn't notice a difference at all, It also gave my coffee a weird after taste and it got to the point where i dreaded having that coffed. I'm going to try the nutrition geeks one as I've seen lots of people recommend it.

AnotherNewName456 · 05/09/2025 21:50

Interested in this. I have tried the nutrition geeks one but hate the taste of it. I know a lot of people can’t taste it but I think it’s foul. I keep meaning to retry as I know it should be good for me, I don’t feel I’ve given it a proper go as yet.

isitmytime · 05/09/2025 22:12

If you’re struggling with the taste, I’ve been using the better vits capsules and again haven’t noticed any dip in the benefits from the powder. Two capsules a day a nd they’re on a subscription so never run out. I only switched to see what I thought and I’m on months 4 and haven’t cancelled them. Maybe a bit pricy at £30 a month but they might be worth a try for ease of taking them

I stopped Nutrition Geeks because I swear I could smell and taste it.

Dee24alexa · 25/09/2025 11:21

I've been using Nutrition Geeks for about 6 months. I have it in my tea every morning. I've never smelled or tasted it before but the last 2 packs I've had, I swear I can now smell it and taste it. It's as if they've changed something. Has anyone else noticed this?

ForeverTipsy · 25/09/2025 20:08

I ended up just getting another three months supply from NutritionGeeks as was good value with the free biotin and discounted magnesium.

I've only tried it in my Yorkshire Tea once and thought "never again!". But maybe I should give it another go? Then can report back to you @Dee24alexa (I started taking it in June I think).

I've been having it in my tea the whole time. I used to drink coffee but I've been off it for a while now. It's usually my first cup of the day but today i was running late so I had a normal cup and then I had cereal before having it in my next cup. I'm wondering if it's because I had normal tea first, that I've noticed more lol. I'll go back to first cup of the day tomorrow and see if it makes a difference. If not, I think they've changed the recipe 😂

“Collagen is a protein made up of smaller blocks called amino acids. When any protein enters the body it is broken down into these smaller blocks and your body then builds new proteins.

So, it is highly unlikely that taking collagen specifically will result in that collagen being kept together and then sent to the site of need.”

Any ideas/ suggestions about the Geeks collegen taste; it’s so dreadful in my coffee. I find two tablespoons a day very difficult to achieve as it’s ruining my coffee all day. I don’t eat cereals

I don't drink coffee, so put my collagen in smoothies (made with zero sugar almond milk or coconut milk, with a handful of frozen fruit - I get the bags in Aldi) or Greek yoghurt. Or my evening cacao sometimes, with a little teaspoon of manuka honey.

Find the Willpowders one mixes better with cold food/drinks, and there is much less smell. Might be worth a shot?

I buy Elavate collagen powder, the chocolate one. Stir it into porridge or Greek yogurt. Delicious. The latter is like eating a chocolate mousse. I am trying to improve my hair condition after a year on steroids. I think it is getting better but a) I finished steroids 6 months ago and b) I’ve had 3 inches cut off my hair. So difficult to tell what has made the improvement.

SmallTreeDeepRoots · 05/03/2026 11:07

I’m interested in this, not for the collagen as much as a possible source. Would the powder work for this purpose?

RokaRocker · 05/03/2026 11:12

Aren't all a waste of money going by the evidence?

Yes they are. Lack of sound scientific evidence to back up their use - people are wasting their money.

I take it daily because it has almost 10g protein in it, so it's an easy win for me as a perimenopausal woman who is weight lifting and trying to up her protein intake. I add it to full fat Greek yoghurt or frozen fruit/spinach/kale smoothies, along with some creatine. I can afford it and believe it supports my healthy diet and exercise plans well.

I take a collagen tablet every evening. Just marine collagen from Amazon. I have been taking it for a couple of years now as I entered menopause and was loosing hair by the handful. I had to empty the drain twice per hair wash and the amount was terrifying. I have really long hair, and it was the entire root to tip just falling out. My hairdresser even said I had a few bald patches, but the hair was growing through giving me peach fuzz.

Since taking the collagen my hair loss has almost stopped and it grows quickly. I haven't noticed any difference with my nails though.

Biotin tablets for the nails. Absolutely worked for me.

ForeverTipsy · 06/03/2026 21:48

Biotin helped my nails, too...but made my skin super greasy and worsened my acne.
