Possible cervical prolapse- 2week pathway

Hi ladies,

I went to the docs yesterday as I’ve had 3 separate bowel incontinence situations in the last month, and I’ve felt a sort fleshy lump at the top of my vaginal wall for a while which I can feel in my bottom when I press it

Doc examined both areas and says she thinks it’s my cervix pushing through my rectum, would this be a cervical prolapse?

She’s put me on the 2 week pathway for a scope to see what’s going on, but that seems quite an extreme first measure from what I’ve seen on here for a prolapse…

has anyone else had a scope when a prolapse is suggested? Feeling scared that she thinks it’s something else but isn’t saying that to me!

thank you xx

The doc's response probably depends on how severe the prolapse is, and the problems it is causing you. I know that they are graded from 1 to 4, and the mildest ones may cause no symptoms or relatively manageable symptoms.

You have the very horrible problem of bowel incontinence, and a quite pronounced prolapse that you can actually feel yourself. So I guess she was just making sure the moves forward to help you as quickly and effectively as possible.

I went to the docs with mild urine incontinence and she found what she described as a 'tiny' prolapse. So I am beginning with lesser measures - oestrogen pessaries.
