PCOS - Referred to a specialist for Metformin

I have asked my GP for help with weight loss after struggling with my weight for years. The only time i have been able to lose weight is after kids were born, for the last three years i have been the same weight, even though i eat in a calorie Deficit and exercise four times a week.
My GP asked what i wanted, i explained i had researched Metformin and the potienal help with weight loss, GP has referred me to a specialist because GP cannot prescribe?
Or i could be referred to the NHS weight loss programme. I refused the NHS weight loss programme, as it is slimming world or weight watchers. After having done both, it is my personal opinion that they are not right for me. (I don't agree with syning a banana)

Has anyone been referred to a specialist for Metformin or PCOS help?
I feel as if i had lots to tell my GP but felt rushed off the phone and i am worried the specialist will only get GP's short summary.

Yes i said there was a happy medium.

1600 isn't two thousand is it. The OP is eating near as dammit two thousand calories a day, and wondering why she's not losing weight.

Humans actually need so little food unless you are working a very manual job, which most of us aren't. We are sedentary.

I was merely referencing the person/people who said they ate 1100. And most people burn around at least 1300 a day, just being sedentary. I believe coma patients need around that at least. If not, more, depending on body size etc.

@HÆLTHEPAIN I find it sad too but the fact is unless I’m eating that many calories I will not lose weight . I stick to around 1500 to maintain but atm I want to lose half a stone and even at 1100 calories I am lose half a pound or so a week. It sucks

Surely it also depends on her weight. At my biggest I was eating 2200 calories and steadily losing weight. 1900 depending on how much she weighs may actually be alright for her.

If you're morbidly obese and eating 3000 calories a day and that's how you've become morbidly obese than dropping to 2000 is going to make you lose weight.

i'd say the most people unless they're very overweight wouldn't lose weight on nearly 2000 calories a day.

Well, in 3 years at 1900 calories she has lost zero, so no , this isn't the right amount of calories to aim for.
This is how one knows if the allowance of a certain amount of calories is right. If you don't lose anything in 3 years, it isn't .
And we need to start talking about net calories, in other words , the calories you body is able to absorb.

Thankyou for the replies. Whilst some of you may not agree with the calories I am on, it has been set by a dietitian and hence why I went to additional help from my GP I am not asking for a magic pill to lose weight I am asking for additional support to lose weight as losing weight can significantly lower the symptoms of PCOS. However when you struggle to lose weight the symptoms remain hence why I have asked for Metformin.

I appreciate you all may think it is not the right amount of calories but I said,
it has been set by a dietitian due to my weight and activity during the day.
