Enterocele - anyone? Rectocele?

Hi all.
Have any of you ladies ever been diagnosed with an enterocele? Can you tell me what your symptoms were specifically, and if you had a repair to fix it, how successfull it was? Was it fixed vaginally or abdominally?

Also would like to hear of ladies who had rectocele. Did you have rectal fullness/pressure/heaviness as a symptom EVEN when the rectocele was empty and you had fully evacuated your rectum?

Thanks everyone.

I have been diagnosed with a rectocele and yes, my rectum feels as you describe more often than not. Unfortunately though l have been diagnosed with obstructive defacation syndrome as the rectocele impacts on my ability to empty my bowels fully most of the time. l see a colorectal nurse to help manage this but it is very frustrating. Have you had any advice for your issues?

Yes, I've been offered a repair of the rectocele and enterocele vaginally. Not sure to proceed as urogyn said he's not sure the pressure in the rectum will be solved. I had an MRI proctogram which showed prolapse in all 3 compartments so he's offering sacrospinous fixation in addition. I'm scared and don't know what to do. Personally I feel like its an internal rectal prolapse but this did not show on the proctogram.
I have 24 hour a day constant rectal pressure and heaviness but everything I've read says this only happens when stool gets caught in the rectocele, and I know for sure that this is not the case with me. Confused.

Gosh, l feel for you. I also had a proctogram and saw the rectocele on the video screen. It's only supposed to be grade 1 but causes me a lot of trouble so must be in an awkward position. Since then l've also had a small cystocele diagnosed too but was told this shouldn't cause problems.
Why won't the pressure be eased if you have the op, was any explanation given? My main reason is trapped stool but l have an irrigation device which flushes out the remains of the stool to help with that. I still often feel uncomfortable though but unfortunately also have internal piles and a bit of diverticulosis as revealed by a sigmmoidoscopy. I think my rectum is super sensitive too so that doesn't help with the heavy feeling. Are you positive that stool isn't getting trapped behind the rectocele?

Yes, I've checked with a gloved finger. The proctogram also said I emptied practically fully, but as the gyno said, it's just a snapshot in time and may not represent the full picture.
He didn't even think the rectocele was that bad until I had an exam under GA and then he said it was worse than he thought or than it showed in the proctogram.
The proctogram didn't even show an enterocele but he said he can feel one too.
I guess he's just being cautious in that he doesn't want me to think this is going to solve my symptoms. I just don't know if the very rectocele itself can cause pressure and fullness even when it's not got stool trapped in it, and he can't seem to answer that question either.

It's miserable isn't it? It's no fun feeling uncomfortable all day. I was told an op wouldn't be considered as the rectocele could reocurr and to just to do pelvic floor exercises.
Very interesting that the proctogram didn't show your enterocele, I wonder why? Does it impact on your life? If so it is probably worth having the op, although l understand your doubts if relief from the discomfort from the rectocele isn't guaranteed. Good luck with whatever you decide.

I have all 3 but strangely no real issue with the rectocele. I have a kind of internal pouch and the end of my rectum that I guess is a result of it getting stretched after birth 1.
