Hello All,

just been diagnosed with Osteo Arthritis in fingers, hand & wrists (both hands). No scans purely a Dr diagnosis.
im finding it painful along with struggling to
move fingers in the morning after sleep…it takes maybe an hour to be able to move my joints?.

May I ask is this normal & does anyone have any tips for aiding this condition ie, will supplements help, i have started with Omega 3 high strength.

Any advice would be welcome.
TIA

The best thing you can do is hand and wrist exercises to strengthen the surrounding muscles to support the joints, I know that sounds bonkers when you are in pain, but mine actually hurts more these days if I dont do the exercises regularly . I’ve suffered for a decade since my early 40’s, I have wrist splints for when it’s really bad. Compression gloves (lots of places online sell them) can help for fingers.

Google versus arthritis hand and wrist exercises, they have video instructions for the exercises iirc.

I have recently been diagnosed with osteoarthritis in my knee. I’ve just finished a pain management course with the physio team and they said the best thing you can do is to keep moving the affected joint/joints. It seems bonkers because you’re in pain and you think you need to rest but as the pp said, you need to build the muscles up around the joint. It’s awful isn’t it?

I sleep in compression gloves, they really do help

I haven't seen a doctor yet but I think I have hand osteoarthritis. Do you have bony lumps on your fingers? How do you stop them from growing? Would appreciate some advice.

They are Heberden's nodes - classic for OA. You can't stop them growing.

I have bouchards nodes on most fingers. I'm worrying that my fingers will be deformed badly.
