Couldn’t see into my cervix at colposcopy

Hi, I’ve just been for a colposcopy following an abnormal smear test result (low grade changes and HPV positive) - the nurse said the outside of my cervix looked ok but she couldn’t see inside as too small (possibly tilted thinking back to previous smears) and so she has referred me for a smear test in 12 months. Wondering how usual this is? I’m also hoping to get pregnant within the next 12 months and obviously you’re not meant to have a smear during pregnancy or for a few months after birth, does this mean I have to delay TTC?

Didn’t they take a biopsy? I went to colposcopy for several years and they took a biopsy every time and I received the results in a letter with a new appointment 6 weeks later. It sounds weird to me that the nurse would just leave it like that after not seeing inside.

I’ve got a stenosed cervix. There are a number of reasons but more common as you get older, if you don’t have periods, if you haven’t had children. There are things they can do to take a better look, but I guess they are more invasive hence the decision to wait for now. It sounds similar to me. It was colposcopy 3 for my when they eventually did LLETZ. I know it’s hard, but I wouldn’t worry.
Sorry but I have no idea on the TTC part.

Yes I’m surprised at this too . Op I think I’d push for further investigation. I don’t think they should have just left it. I don’t mean to scare you but sometimes the cell changes are more advanced than the initial smear shows. I think I’d want this ironing out before ttc.

I’ve had multiple colposcopy’s with my most recent results being CIN1 with a follow up smear planned in 12 months.

I want to start TTC and won’t be putting it on hold as I’ve had CIN1 clear on its own in the past. I think your case is slightly different as you don’t really know what you’re dealing with.
