Horrendous pelvic organ prolapse - has anyone had successful surgery? Feeling desolate

Hi all,

I had a forceps delivery with my first baby 1.5 years ago and was diagnosed with a mild bladder prolapse at about 6 weeks and told it would improve with time. It hasn’t. It’s got significantly worse and is now a bladder and rectal prolapse, according to the GP who basically abandoned me 1.5 years ago.

I’ve booked in to see a gynaecologist privately as the wait on the NHS will be about 6 more months, but I’m feeling so down about it.

Most days it feels and looks like I have one giant testicle dangling between my legs, and now I have a needy heavy toddler who wants to be carried a lot, which is definitely making it worse.

I would like to have another baby (I’m 42 so unlikely, but we’ll try) and the GP says I can’t have surgery until after I do (if I do), but I’m nervous that not even surgery will help properly and feel a quite desolate about the idea of having this for the rest of my life.

I’m assuming the private gynae will offer me a pessary, but I’d love to hear from people who have had surgery successfully (or not!) so I can have some hope (or not!) for the distant future.

Kegels (and the Kegel8) machine do fuck all 🥴

I've had my bladder prolapse for over 10 years now and have a ring pessary which is changed every 6 Months. It works for me. I've heard such horror stories about the OP that it really worries me. But then again we wouldn't hear if it works OK would we ? There's some good advice on a thread on Health Unlocked.
It's such a a demoralising condition. I wear pee pads to help with any leakage, such as coughing.
It's not ideal but I do manage. For context I'm 72.
