How do you know what's normal and what isn't?
I recently had a mammogram it was fine.
The breast nurse told me to check once a month and record any changes.
But my boobs are so lumpy and full of ridges and tissue and I honestly can't tell what's normal and what's not.

How do you recall what they are meant to feel like every month?

Following as I'm in the same boat. Had to have another lump scanned recently and asked about this. The clinician was really lovely, but the only suggestion she had was just to keep coming and getting lumps scanned, even if it meant going every couple of months!

She said that I just have "firm tissue" and lots of cysts. I know this is bad, but it puts me off doing my own breast exams... I will always find something!

I found checking for lumps impossible. I have fibrocystic breasts. So I now just do 'know your lemons' check for all other signs

What's know your lemons?

I was told I have fibrocystic breasts too.
And bloody health anxiety into the bargain.
I'm trying to accept I will find things to worry me every time I check them 🤷‍♀️

Learn to check correctly. Do not use fingertips!! Use the flat of your fingers is circular motions.. I. The shower when soapy is easiest. There's lots of videos/instructions online.

If you have had a clear mammogram now is a good time to check as this will be normal for you. You are looking for changes so learn your normal now.

I’ve had breast cancer and my tumour was hard and knobbly and tethered. It felt very different to the many fibroadenomas and cysts that I’ve had. I really struggle with checking my boobs now so give them a good hard rub daily with body lotion. I do keep an eye on my collarbone as I had a raised lymph node before my cancer was diagnosed. I also had persistent pain in the tumour site.
