Inducing a period?

Apologies if this is on the wrong Topic

My husband and I due to go away in 2 weeks for a very special celebration…I’ve just realised I am due on the day we go!

It will be almost 20 years since we have even had a night away alone, let alone 4 days! We have 5 children so a babysitter hasn’t been very easy over the years! We have booked a trip to Europe in an amazing hotel with a jacuzzi in the room and I am so disappointed that my period is due.

I don’t want to take northisterone if I can avoid it, because it upsets my stomach (taken it twice for a friends wedding and my hen weekend and both times I was poorly)

Are there any tried and tested ways of making a period come early? So atleast I can get it out the way first and/or limit the amount of days I loose whilst away?

Im smack in the middle of perimenopause so my periods are really heavy at present as well, so just ‘getting on with it’ is not as easy option as it may have been 10 years ago!

I don’t and can’t (medical reasons) take any birth control so I can’t use that to stop it either

thank you!

Have you ever tried provera instead of norethisterone?
I dont think you'll be able to make a period come early

If you are in peri menopause maybe your period will be early/late?? Mefanemic acid was the only thing that helped with my heavy periods

I don’t think this is available in the UK. Thank you though ♥️

I am so hoping it does come early! The annoying this is my cycle averages at 27 days, but I have had a few as long as 32 in the past 3 years and my last one was 25! Had that not have been early I might have been okay! My body only ever seems to come early or late when it wants to mess up my algorithm for a certain event - it never comes early or late to pacify me 😂 Thank you for your reply, thankfully although heavy, they’re currently not painful x

Have you checked online pharmacy e.g. Boots for Provera? Was on there when I looked.

curliegirlie · 01/07/2025 22:01

Provera certainly used to be I think. Are you on the pill? Can you delay it that way? (I used to regularly run packs together if my break was due at an awkward time).

I ordered provera yesterday through Asda online pharmacy I can’t take noristerone due to migraines so you can definitely get it here.

dementedpixie · 01/07/2025 22:05

I did read the OP so this may not help but . ..I've taken noresthirone 2 months before to change my cycle in advance as side affects aren't worth spoiling my holiday.
