Itching vagina - no thrush

Help please!

I got thrush for the 1st time around 2 ago and then again about 6 months later (confirmed with a swab). After that I got it every month for about 5 months. I went to the doctor and asked to be tested for type 2 diabetes as I know this can cause recurring thrush but my bloods were normal.

I was as put on the long term course of Fluconazole for 6 months but went back as I thought I developed thrush again even while on the treatment.
My symptoms are always the same - no discharge at all, itchy around vagina and vulva, stinging when peeing like small shards of glass down below and skin appears red. I’ve had STI tests all clear so my doctor started another 6 month course however the swab actually came back clear for thrush.

The only thing I can pinpoint is it happens after I shave. But why is my vagina and vuvla itching inside? I don’t obviously shave in there.
I don’t think it’s lichen sclerosis either as I don’t have any white patches.

Please help it is getting me down.

Sounds like a PH imbalance. If any soap goes near my vulva it throws the PH off and irritates the skin. Some women just wash their vulva/vagina with water. If you’re shaving though use a PH balanced product to shave with like femfresh.

Sounds like symptoms of peri menopause too

Not sure of your age, but GSM (genito-urinary syndrome of menopause) was my first symptom of perimenopause and it started in my late 30s. It causes atrophy of the tissues, dryness, burning, itching, painful sex etc. Using vaginal estrogen has fixed it for me. It comes in a cream or in tablets which you insert twice a week. I insert it with my finger instead of the pokey plastic applicator.

But as pp say, you could also have a PH balance problem. And make sure your partner is clean. Probiotics can help. I wouldn't recommend shaving. I use pure soap to wash the outer vulva with a flat hand, and just water for the inner parts. Cotton underwear. I hope you find some relief!

Thanks everyone, I’ve started taking daily probiotic tablets and changed to a ph balanced wash for my intimate area. It seems to have helped.

i think another issue for me was shaving, so I’ve switched to waxing.
