Persistent oral thrush

Hello! I wondered if anyone could help me. I’m feeling very desperate and not sure where to go from here.

I’ve had issues with oral thrush since beginning of November last year, caused by PPI use. I stopped using PPIs in Feb but haven’t managed to get rid of this oral thrush since. Fluconazole works for a little bit then stops. Then I tried itraconazole both tablets and oral solution. Last week I had to stop the max dose of oral itraconazole due to developing bradycardia. My oral thrush is back, desperately tried a course of nystatin over the last 7 days but hasn’t touched it. I think I’ve developed an azole resistance.

it’s definitely oral thrush, confirmed by swabs. Already seen the oral surgeon who advised there’s nothing else but itraconazole.

Im scared that I don’t have any lines of treatment left but also desperate to start a frozen embryo transfer asap. This affecting me mentally and I feel like im at a dead end as my GP doesn’t know what to do with me. I should add, my reflux has significantly worsened since an endoscope in Feb (now being referred for surgery as all PPI and H2 blockers are ineffective). Any advice please?

One thing you can try at home without medication is to go completely no carbohydrates. Take a look at a ketogenic diet on line and see if you think it might help.
Anecdotally, some people have had success after a few days.

Best wishes.

Do you have heartburn?

Have you been tested for Helicobacter pylori?

Try live plain yoghurt. It reintroduces lactobacillus and other friendly bacteria that keep the candida growth down. It’s an old way of treating candida.
Also if you use mouthwashes, stop. They kill off the healthy bacteria.
