Hi

I’ve posted before about some issues I’ve had with my cycle (longest was 155 days). I’ve never been diagnosed with PCOS or endometriosis but I’m currently on CD52. My Flo app says my cycles usually range from 30-40 days and I was predicted due AF on 19th April, my last period started 17th March.

I’ve had some cramp/pains but nothing major but noticed my nipples have also been quite sensitive the last couple of days. I’ve done two pregnancy tests, one today and one on 29th April - both BFN, not even a tinge of a line.

Just wanted to know if anyone had any advice really, I’ve seen GP’s before but they’re usually no use or won’t do anything until I’ve missed 3 periods in a row.

TIA x

Ask them to check your prolactin level. Although rare a benign micro tumour in the pituitary can cause elevated prolactin which will cause periods to become irregular, eventually stopping, fatigue and lethargy and stimulate milk production. Worth checking to see if you can express anything from your nipple or if you get occasional crusting suggesting discharge.
Unfortunately it stops ovulation so any attempt to ttc will be difficult. It can also affect your libido.
The good news is that it’s treatable.
GPs are not endocrinologists and will not immediately consider it because it’s not common.

Just incase anyone is wanting to know, I did go and get my prolactin levels checked; my NHS app updated and states levels were 83 mu/L which is stating “normal - no further action” but when I’ve googled this says otherwise.

Any suggestions? I’ve thought about ringing the GP to speak to someone about it but I’ll probably need a full new appointment to do so and they may just say “if it says normal then nothing to worry about” but what then as my periods will still be so irregular?
