My periods never looked like this

Can anyone please tell me if this is normal. I’m 33 years old, I have undiagnosed endometriosis and pcos I started my period last Wednesday and today’s Wednesday again and this came out. Can anybody relate? Or have any advise. I don’t have health insurance. So I don’t have a dr. Sorry for the tmi picture.

Normal for lots of women, although how do you have undiagnosed Endo? Suspected Endo? Are you having investigations?

All my periods were like that with Endo and then , later on, fibroids.
The clots became even more huge and bleeding became heavier as time went on.

It’s baffling to me that other women don’t have clots like this routinely, I genuinely had no idea until I saw pics on MN! I honestly thought all women had periods with clots until I was in my 40’s. I feel disproportionately aggrieved that my DR did nothing for years once I found out it wasn’t normal to pass clots the size of your palm. I hope you have a more sympathetic GP op.

Sorry, I see no DR. God that’s awful. People slate the NHS but at least we can access medical advice without the worry you have. Flowers

Never had them like that

It looks like a decidual cast - not nice but not uncommon with endometriosis.

LeaveALittleNote · 30/04/2025 20:13

I haven’t experienced that.

Woollygreymittens · 30/04/2025 20:16

Yes, that was normal for me, I had very heavy periods and I thought that was normal but it’s not something I ever discussed with anyone

Giftsnatch · 30/04/2025 20:17

I used to get clots like that all the time. Periods were otherwise unremarkable (not heavy, painful or irregular). On its own I wouldn’t worry about it but it does sound like you’ve got a lot going on, I’m sorry to hear that

IKillUnkillablePlants · 30/04/2025 20:25

I passed clots like that when I had ovarian cysts, the cysts were due to my mirena coil being inserted incorrectly which meant I wasn't getting the progesterone needed as part of my hrt. Once that was sorted the clots stopped.

I'm sorry you are unable to see a doctor to get properly checked out, must be stressful when small things like this happen.

Isn’t that a tampon ?

nhsmanagersanonymous · 30/04/2025 22:26

It’s a tampon with some very clotty blood attached. I would say it looks heavy and unpleasant but not actually abnormal. Lots of women have epic clots. You need to get a doctor though, it’s not ok to suffer that sort of blood loss. There are options.

Balloonhearts · 30/04/2025 22:29

It looks pretty normal to me, the clots on the tampon, I mean.

Yes I thought so too as you can see the string aswell.
I also get some big clots sometimes, not unlike the ones in the pic, I do have pcos but it is also normal to experience clots during periods.

WearyAuldWumman · 30/04/2025 22:30

That often happened with me. I had a diagnosis of endo, confirmed via laparoscopy.
