If it’s not thrush, what could it be?

I am so dry and itchy, it’s really my labia minora to be specific. It has been going on for roughly 6 months I think now, started to be just before my period was due but seems to be adhoc now, and more often. I thought thrush when it first started but nothing is helping; no discharge either. The canestan cream helps soothe it. I’m 36, been breastfeeding for 3.5 years if that’s relevant.

Any ideas?

I had this a lot when pregnant, eventually the gp prescribed me pessaries to take every other day, it’s the only thing that helped me

Try probiotics- cotton underwear only. Also could you maybe moisturise?could also be hormonal if you’re on a new birth control.

For me it was my washing powder.

I experimented by washing my nickers in a hand wash solution, by hand of course, and hey presto, it went away!

All previous tests from GP had previously come back negative.

I had dreadful itching for ages. Realised I had thread worms. Thanks DS2.

No thread worms (thankfully), no new birth control and wear cotton pants already.

I’ll try some genital safe moisturiser! I had read that low oestrogen can cause the itchiness and that oestrogen cream can help too so might go to GP if all else fails.

For me it was my hormones. Now on HRT and no issues. One of my first peri symptoms. All thrush swabs clear at gp and no discharge but horrendous itch! i would see your gp :)
