Found out I was pregnant around 3 weeks ago, made the decision not to keep it as it’s just not the right time for me to become a mum

Had a phone consultation on Thursday which lasted around 20 mins- doctor i spoke to was absolutely lovely, they just need to know why you want to have one and make sure nobodies forcing you into anything, they walk you through all your options and make sure you’re happy with everything

Had to go in on Monday to get a scan to confirm how far along I was- also got a contraceptive implant fitted at the same time and sent home with my meds and very clear instructions of what to do/ expect

Took 1st tablet 9am Thursday- felt very nauseous and tired and had very light spotting but nothing major and 0 pain

Inserted 2nd set of tablets around 10am this morning, took some ibuprofen and managed to fall back asleep for a couple of hours- woke up to change pad and passed a clot about the size of a Kiwi. Got a bout of quite intense pain similar to bad period cramps so took some ibuprofen and stood in a hot shower which helped a lot, dissolved second set of tablets under tounge about 5 hours later, second wave of bad cramps and bleeding but nothing awful and just took another few ibuprofen and refilled the hot water bottle

All in the all the whole process hasn’t been the horror story I was expecting, and there’s absolutely nothing to be afraid of, bleeding is heavy so you will need thick pads but pain is very very manageable with just ibuprofen and heat,I was given dihyrocodeine just in case but never felt the need to take it personally. I found lying down on my left side to also help. It’s not the comfortable by any means but you will absolutely be ok and get through it

You can eat and drink as normal so I’d advise staying hydrated, snacking plenty so you’re able to have pain relief and having something to distract you

Thanks for this. I'm sure people facing the same process will find it helpful and reassuring.
