Hysteroscopy tomorrow - any positive experiences?

Hysteroscopy tomorrow - no ga or sedation, have been told to take paracetamol and ibuprofen. I've been down an Internet rabbit hole and some of the stories of women finding them painful has reaĺly spooked me! Has anyone had a positive experience of hysteroscopy and can reassure me?

If you've had babies it will be easier I heard x

The nurses who helped remove my coil in a hysteroscopy clinic were very nice.
It doesn't strike me as a procedure that can go to desperately wrong and the end report you get maybe very helpful.

I hope it goes well xx

I have a thread running and have literally just posted about my experience today - this is the thread, and it was fine for me, although I realise that’s not the case for everyone, there is a bit of discussion of it on the thread.

I had local anaesthetic though, a quick jab into the cervix. It was an uncomfortable rather than painful experience for me, though I know from reading up that some women find it painful and there doesn’t seem to be any rationale as to who.

I hope yours goes well. I will echo PP and say everyone involved was lovely and very kind, so I hope it’s the same for you.

Joining in as recently had one of theses and am waiting for the results. Nervous. Got sent in for endometrial hyperplasia.

I had a scan last week (due to bleeding on and off for many months which I hadn't realised was a cause for concern) and the (private) GP has done an open referral to a gynaecologist who she tells me will likely want to do a hysteroscopy. Can anyone who has had a hysteroscopy recommend their gynae (or warn me off theirs)? I would be looking at SE London or Central London.

I had one with no pain relief unexpectedly and honestly it was fine , no worse than a smear test

How did you get on OP?

How did you get on OP?

It was ok 🙂 Felt a little like bad period pain, and was briefly uncomfortable when they took the biopsy but no worse for me than a smear. I was offered local anaesthetic or gas and air but I didn't need it. I'm just waiting on the results now. Thanks for checking on me xx
