TMI - incontinence question

Ah god this is horrible.

Previous pelvic floor surgery 8ish years ago. Try to be careful with heavy lifting but always overdo it at times. When I do, I have difficulty going to the loo - it's like my bowels don't fully empty and it takes ages to clean up.

Usually, after a few weeks of being careful things improve, but it's not this time 😕 or if it does, it's only a matter of days before it's an issue again. It's driving me nuts and really upsetting me.

Is this classed as incontinence?
It's not like I lose control of my bowels and basically crap myself, which is what I've always imagined incontinence to be. I'm getting frequent thrush too, I assume because I'm not keeping clean enough.

Has anyone else experienced this or have any tips or advice? Have been referred to gastroenterology but no appt yet. I really don't want more surgery Sad

It’s the colorectal team I’d recommend. They have clinics for this sort of thing.

I’m still under them for incontinence issues after giving birth caused me problems. You may also be able to get help from the bladder and bowel nurses.

Get a stool to raise your feet while on the toilet, drink plenty and remember your pelvic floor exercises while you wait to be seen.

Is it bad piles? Can feel like your bowel isn't fully empty, and very difficult to clean thoroughly just through wiping. Can definitely be brought on/aggravated by heavy lifting.

Could you have a bowel prolapse?

Thank you, I may give my gp another call and ask about the colorectal team. It's very odd because I was written to and instructed to make an appt online. They gave an appt on a date for something weird like 3am and told me not to go to or phone the hospital, but to expect a call to arrange a consultation. Well that slot came and went over a month ago and I've heard nothing, which is really confusing! Confused

GP said it's not piles. I have a mild to moderate prolapse of my bladder (had a hysterectomy) apparently, but not sure about my bowel.
